Brenda Hayles, the mind behind the HEP Science Curriculum, started her journey with science from a source that we all hope to have in our lives – a great teacher!

In an interview last week, however, she mentioned even that wasn’t enough to propel her to a full-blown career in science. Her education equipped her with “a string of facts” which improved her life chances, but never felt relevant to her daily life. With the HEP Science Curriculum, she strives to eliminate the disconnect between school and life. She says, “It’s about breathing their life into the curriculum and using everyday life to access the curriculum.”

Brenda gave me a brief overview about what the HEP Science Curriculum includes, and it’s actually a lot more than just the booklets (with awesome illustrations!) that you can order on the HEP Booking Hub. There are also PowerPoints, progression maps, unit overviews, and more, giving teachers all the science resources they need for primary years 3-5.
