Senior Assistant Headteacher, Inclusion Lead and DSL at West Grove

I am the Senior Assistant Headteacher, Inclusion Lead and DSL at West Grove Primary. In addition to this, I also lead on whole school Attendance. I have been in education for 30 years and absolutely love my job! After completing my NASENCO qualification, I have been the SENCO at West Grove for a number of years now. Levelling up the playing field for those most vulnerable pupils with SEND, is one of my passions and we always think of how we can prepare our pupils for the next stage of their learning journey. We have a LA funded Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for KS2 with an autism focus and is in the process of opening up a similar 8-space KS1 SRP.

I work very closely with the local authority’s SEND department and other external professionals in order to reach the very best outcomes for our pupils and their families. Providing the best opportunities for all our SEND pupils to thrive regardless of their starting points in life, is the ultimate goal. Championing not only our SEND pupils, but also their families, who I am deeply committed to helping and supporting, has been my life mission. Sharing good practice and offering support to other SENCOs within their roles and with setting up SRPs, is another facet of the job that I thoroughly enjoy.
