Racial Equity

Building a culture of belonging

Free resources available to support every school to address racial equity.

In 2016, Haringey had the biggest gap in the country at GCSE between White British and Black Caribbean students. Since then, closing the achievement gap for students from all our communities has been an absolute priority for HEP.

Every child and young person deserves the best life chances, especially when they face additional barriers due to ethnicity and disadvantage. It is everyone’s responsibility to make this a reality and build a culture of belonging. We support schools to commit to change and develop an inclusive culture of teaching and learning.

HEP is delighted to be a Founding Partner with Hemisphere Education to provide their racial literacy training programme to educators in our member schools.

Hemisphere is designed to improve the racial literacy of school teachers, staff and students. Racial literacy is a life skill that helps everyone to be more confident in their interactions, both inside and outside of school. By providing concrete, practical advice on exclusionary behaviours to avoid and inclusionary behaviours to practice, Hemisphere helps every member of the school community to become part of the solution.
