Leadership of a School Ethos : Bringing your School Vision and Values to Life
Most schools have a vision statement and a set of school values, but how can these brought to life in order to ensure that they underpin all decision-making across the organisation? How can leaders ensure that all members of the school community know the vision and the values and – more importantly – understand how they translate into everyday behaviours? And how can we ensure that we are meeting Ofsted’s expectation that ‘leaders have a clear and ambitious vision for providing high-quality, inclusive education and training to all… realised through strong, shared values, policies and practice’?
This session will share best practice and lessons learnt from Lancasterian Primary School, who have spent the last three years ensuring that their vision and values become more than just words on paper in order to truly drive school improvement. As a 2 day review of the school by HEP in November 2018 stated: ‘Lancasterian Primary has a very visible and prominent set of school values that runs through the life of the school. These values are well understood and owned by the whole school community and underpin the learning, behaviour and personal development of the children and the staff.’
