Primary Prevent Training
The Prevent Duty is designed to stop vulnerable people from being drawn into terrorism or extremist acts. Since 2015, the duty has been part of the statutory safeguarding duties for a range of specified agencies including education settings. Prevent therefore forms part of the existing safeguarding legal obligations for education settings and all staff should be aware of and supported in understanding how the duty coincides with their day to day roles.
It is an Ofsted requirement that all staff receive Prevent training and in doing so learn; how to spot vulnerability to radicalisation, the referral process for sharing concerns and the risk that informs this work. This Prevent Workshop will look at the Prevent Duty and it’s recommendations for the education sector, explore the radicalisation process and the vulnerabilities associated, as well as detailing the national and local risk picture.
